Frames Style

We’ve all been there before; stuck in a style rut, bored of our look, or simply in need of a change.

At Eye Emporium, we understand this feeling all too well. But we also know how to solve this problem all too well, and the answer may be simpler than you originally anticipated. New eyewear!

If you wear glasses on a daily basis it’s likely that you have a favourite pair that you wear most days. You probably also know that your eyewear speaks volumes about you and can make or break an outfit. So why not invest in a new pair.

Perhaps you would love a statement pair of specs that you can wear when you want an edgier look? Or maybe your day to day glasses really stand out and sometimes you want a more subtle look? Whatever your needs, a new frame will do you wonders.

Our experts at Eye Emporium spend all day helping our patients choose new frames, so we really know our stuff. We take into account lots of factors to help decide on the perfect frames for you, whatever your look.

We’ve put together some of our top tips to help you choose the frames that flatter, enhance and update your style…

1)      Make sure your frame colour complements your complexion

Different colours work differently with your hair colour and skin tone. Dark blues look great on dark skin, whereas lighter blues look best on blondes or redheads. Bright reds look great against dark hair, and those with lighter complexions should go for pale pinks.

2)    Choose a frame shape that flatters your face shape

Typically, the rule here is to choose a frame that is the opposite shape to your face. For example, if you have a round face, choose a square frame. If you have a square face, choose a rounder frame. Heart-shaped faces suit a rimless style best. If you have an oval-shaped face you’re lucky, most frame shapes will suit you!

3)     Think about your wardrobe

If you usually have a girly, delicate style, heavy dark frames may not suit your look best; however, sometimes a contrast works very well.

4)    Get a friend to help you

A second opinion is always great and this is where a dispensing optician will help, however, it’s nice to have a trusted opinion too. When you come in to choose frames, bring a friend or family member to give you their honest opinion.

5)     Chose an optician that has a large choice of frames

We all like choice, right? And when it comes to your look, a bigger choice is always better. That’s why you should choose an opticians practice that stocks a large range of frames for you to pick between. Different brands have different styles, and so do different people. If an optician only has a small selection of frames it’s likely that they won’t cater to every taste, so pick a practice that values individuality!

Maybe you want to ditch the specs? Contact lenses are your answer. They’ll allow you to leave your glasses at home and while having clear, unhindered vision all day long.

There are lots of types of contact lenses around today, from monthly lenses, to fortnightly and daily disposables. So if you feel like your specs do too much talking, try contact lenses for a change and showcase your eyes’ true beauty.

At Eye Emporium, we aim to cater for every taste, so whether it’s a loud look you’re after, or you want to take a subtler route, speak to our experts for advice. Better still, why not pop in and see the selection of frames we have available?
