If you own a motorcycle, now is the perfect time to get out on the road. The sun is shining (mostly) and it’s warm enough to enjoy a ride out in the town or countryside.  And you know, there’s no better feeling than being out on the open road in good weather.

But you also know that as with anything good, there are some precautions you need to take too. Not just for your safety but for your health, and to keep those around you safe.

If you ride then you’ll already be aware that you should always wear protective clothing when on your motorbike. A tough helmet is vital and a set of good quality leathers and boots to protect you should you fall. But have you ever considered protective eyewear when you’re riding?

Your eyes are delicate and need protecting when you’re out riding. Even at lower speeds, your eyes are at risk from flying bugs, dirt, grit and the wind. All of these can not only hurt or damage your eyes, but they can also be hazardous to your safety as any implication to your vision will impair your concentration on the road.

If you wear regular prescription glasses you’ll know that they offer no protection when you’re wearing a non-visor helmet, and they’re pretty uncomfortable to wear with any helmet whether it has a visor or not.

At Eye Emporium we’re only too aware of the risks involved in riding, so we want to make it that bit safer for you to do what you love. That’s why we offer a range of specialist eyewear for motorcycle glasses.

Not only can these frames be fitted with lenses to suit your prescription, but the arms are flat, meaning they’re comfortable to wear underneath a helmet. What’s more, we can add special coatings to your new lenses to make your vision even more precise when riding in certain conditions. For example, we could fit transition lenses which change from clear to dark depending on your light conditions – they gradually darken when you’re in sunlight, giving your eyes the vital UV protection they need.

We could also add tints to reduce glare (which is terrible for riding on a particularly sunny day) or to make the contrast around you better in certain weather conditions. All you need to do is speak to one of our experts at Eye Emporium and we’ll recommend the most suitable lenses for your needs.

Special glasses for motorcyclists are available at all Eye Emporium branches.
