In the ever evolving industry of eye care, we have a regular occurrence between referring patients to a hospital eye clinic to be cautious of a health related issue. Whilst being seen by an optician, health professionals are able to detect issues regarding both sight and the health of the eye. But by seeing beneath the surface of your eye it means that it could potentially diagnose serious conditions that can effect you overall well-being.
At our Acton & Faversham practice we have introduced hospital grade equipment that shows you a 3D scan of your eye. Capturing with images, the machine can detect numerous of common eye conditions. The OCT Machine – Ocular Coherence Tomography, is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of your eye. The OCT machine captures both a fundus photograph and a cross-sectional scan of the back of the eye at the same time.
The health of your eyes matters to you and it matters to us too, which is why we are offering OCT to all our patients (within Acton in London + Faversham in Kent.) OCT is a new, completely painless and highly advances system that checks for potentially serious conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, age-related muscular, degeneration, vitreous detachments and more.
