Having trouble seeing clearly when you swim?

If you’re a keen swimmer but wear prescription glasses to see long distance, you might find it difficult to navigate the swimming pool. But what do you do to avoid swimming in zig-zags?

Unless you’re only taking a dip, it’s not practical to wear your usual specs in the pool. One splash and your vision will be obscured, causing you more problems. Also, if you have a metal frame you don’t want to risk getting it wet.

Contact lenses seem like a more sensible solution; there’s nothing to fall off your face or get covered in water. But that’s just the thing – you can’t risk getting water in your eyes when you are wearing contact lenses. It can cause serious eye infections, or worse, it puts you at risk of acanthamoeba keratitis. Acanthamoeba is a small organism that lives in water. It’s extremely rare, but if it gets stuck behind a contact lens it can burrow through your eye, leaving you blind.

So what can you do? Well, at Eye Emporium we offer a range of prescription swimming goggles.

If you regularly swim, these are the best possible solution for your vision correction. They can be made to any prescription and allow you to swim without your vision being obstructed by splashes. These goggles don’t fog up either, so your vision remains clear, and you can even swim underwater and see where you’re going.

Better still, there is a range of prescription goggles for children too, so if your little ones love to splash about, or are just learning to swim, they can do so with confidence. It will also give you the peace of mind that your children are swimming safely with good vision.

We find that children love swimming with their special goggles. They come in a range of colours so kids can choose their favourite, then play in the pool while looking cool.
